概略
2013年にニューヨークで参加したバイオアートのレジデンシーで制作したレーザーと水滴の中の生態系を組み合わせて微生物を壁面に映し出す作品のアイディアを生かし、その発展系として、今回のレジデンシーでは世界の中でも日本が業界のトップを行くホログラム技術を用いて立体的に微生物を浮かび上がらせる作品の制作を試みる。立体的に知覚することのできるホログラム技術を使って微生物を浮かび上がらせることで、より直感的に私たちの周りに存在する、目に見えない生態系や環境について知ることができる。

“MICROSCOPIC CHAMBER” : Using the idea from the piece that combined lasers and ecosystems inside drops of water to project images of microorganisms onto the wall, created at the bio art residency which the artist participated in New York in 2013, as an advanced version of this past project, he will be working on a piece utilizing hologram technology, an industry in which Japan takes the lead, in order to create three-dimensional floating images of microorganisms. By using holograms that can be sterically perceived to show microorganisms, the piece gives us an intuitive understanding of the invisible ecological world and environment around us.

1978年ブラジル生まれ。オランダ在住。生態系をテーマにさまざまなマルチメディアインスタレーションを手掛けるアーティスト。自然とテクノロジー文化の融合を探求しながら、人間とその他の生命体との新しいコミュニケーション方法を模索している。「自然」はインスピレーションの源で あり、かつ、世界の発展における必要不可欠な要素と捉え創作活動を行っている。
Born in Brazil in 1978, currently lives and works in the Netherlands. He creates multimedia installations that examine living systems. In his work he explores hybrids of nature and technological culture, creating new forms of communication between humans and other living organisms. He considers nature a source of inspiration and a necessary factor in the development of the world.
